In his regularly expanded gallery of characters, one was missing: the absoloute pest. The Calculus Affair would remedy this.

Pack-Postcards-Hergé Studios advertising

Did you know that in the 1930’s, Hergé thought about a career in... advertising?

We know Hergé first and foremost for the flagship, The Adventures of Tintin, series whichhe created in 1929.

However, Tintin’s creator had many other artistic talents. Alongside the comic strip and his responsibilities as editor-in-chief of the Le Petit Vingtième, the ambitious cartoonist also devoted himself to the creation of posters and advertising campaigns. His advertising work, mainly carried out between 1927 and the end of the 1930’s, is ample proof of this. In 1934, he created L'Atelier Hergé, (The Hergé Studios) to respond to the orders which he received from the advertising industry.

Nestor Statue

Nestor - Imaginary Museum

This magnificent figurine is a new adddition to The Imaginary Museum of Tintin collection. The famous Nestor, the butler at Marlinspike Hall.

The characters and objects of this collection are based on the original poster of the 1979 The Imaginary Museum of Tintin exhibition.

In June 1979, an important exhibition, created for touring, opened at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. The detail of its contents escaped Hergé's attention, but its creators explained to him that it was a question of confronting the mythical objects collected by Tintin during his adventures with the real objects that inspired them.
