The Art of Hergé series is a condensed version of the seven volumes of the Hergé collection, a chronology of a work by Philippe Goddin. Born in Brussels, Philippe Goddin is considered one of the best specialists in the life and work of Hergé. He knew Hergé personally and directed the research and archival work of Hergé Studios for more than 10 years.

Volume No. 3 covers the period from 1950 to 1983. It was translated by Michael Farr, an expert on Hergé's work, well known to the English public.
